From first question to a registered Will

What makes a Will valid

You are 18 or older

And of sound mind, making the Will of your own free choice.

It is in writing and signed

Signed by you, with your signature placed so it clearly covers the whole Will.

Two witnesses attest it

Each sees you sign, and signs in your presence. Pick adults who are not heirs.

Registration is optional

A registered Will is easier to prove later and safer against loss or disputes.

Is a Will drafted online valid in India?

A written Will that you sign in front of two witnesses, who also sign, can be valid. Draft tools only write the text, so having an advocate check it is the safest route.

Do I have to register my Will?

No. Registration is optional. Many families still do it because a registered Will is easier to prove and harder to dispute.

Who can be my witness?

Any adult of sound mind who is not an heir and not married to an heir. Pick people who will be easy to reach years from now.

Can I change or cancel my Will later?

Yes. You can make a new Will or a codicil at any time while you are of sound mind. A new Will normally replaces the old one.
